"After our work with esteemed mental health charity, Manchester Mind, we know how important it is to give back to local charities. We received a message from a member of the NorthCare Charity team, the official charity of Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, asking for donations to a local care home in Worsley, Greater Manchester. They wanted to transform their unused garden space, and we jumped at the chance to help!

"After a quick visit from our team, we decided to get involved and help build The Maples a beautiful new outdoor space! This project is dear to our hearts, and allowing us to give back to the lovely NHS staff that have cared for us all throughout the pandemic."

About The Maples

"Located in Boothstown, Worsley, The Maples care home run by Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust cares for patients with long-term neurological conditions (brain and spinal). Admitting patients throughout the year, the home provides respite to those in need.

"The building itself is surrounded by paved areas and unused garden space that's been left to its own devices over the years. Staff and residents will soon be able to use their refreshed outdoor space, allowing them to relax and unwind, whatever the weather!"

The Vision

"With three main garden areas - the front garden, a memorial Japanese garden, and a rear garden for residents and staff, there's plenty of work to be done. The front garden - a space for residents and family - will become a welcoming area that's full of colourful containers and plants. The Japanese garden, the most overgrown of the three spaces, needs an overhaul and the rear garden will soon become a social space for staff and residents to use.

"With new furniture, new patio slabs, garden maintenance and lots of planting, the spaces will soon become perfect places for everyone in the home to enjoy. We will provide updates on this project soon! Watch this space."
