Thanks to our incredible donors, fundraisers, colleagues, corporate and community supporters, we were able to deliver close to 5,000 gifts across our hospital and community services to patients receiving treatment on Christmas Day. Christmas is a time to spend with loved ones, and it can be particularly difficult for our patients in hospital who aren’t able to go home over the festive period, as well as those receiving care in our communities.
Our colleagues do a wonderful job in making sure our patients, families and visitors do not miss out on the festivities by ensuring the day is a magical celebration, whilst providing the care they need. The gifts we were able to fund and distribute from donations really did make a difference.
“Children’s Community Nursing Team are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by the Northern Care Charity. Your kindness has brought joy, smiles and a sense of magic to our children and their families this Christmas.“
A huge thank you to SureStore, Pilsworth, who provided the unit for organising and packing our gifts and our wonderful colleagues in the Trust’s Porters and Transport team who transported these where needed.
To those who provided gifts – you really did bring joy to our patients this year. Thank you RMS International, The Mayor of Oldham Appeal fundraising committee, J Walker Brickwork, Conductr, UpTurn Enterprise and all businesses and individuals that contributed to their Toy Appeal, Bury FC, Oldham Athletic FC and Community Trust.

Christmas Raffle
Our Christmas Raffle raised an amazing £9,220 allowing us to continue spreading joy at Christmas for another year. Lisa, Senior HCA, won our top prize of £1,000, donated by Consort Healthcare (Salford) Plc.
“I was thrilled to find out I was the winner of the £1,000! I’ve entered NorthCare’s raffles a couple of times before but never expected to win anything. This time I bought £10’s worth of tickets to support their festive fundraising for our patient gifts, and more than happy with the result - I’ll be entering all the time now!
Thank you so much to the charity team and Consort HealthCare (Salford) for the incredible prize – it’s made my Christmas!”
A huge thank you to everyone who entered the raffle, sold tickets or donated prizes, including our headline sponsor – Consort HealthCare (Salford) Plc, S&S Northern, SE Projects and Charlotte Tilbury counter in Selfridges, Trafford Centre.

Local businesses showed their support a range of ways, including visits and gifts from Bury FC, Oldham Athletic FC and Oldham Athletic Community Trust, Stagecoach, DWP donated Terry's Chocolate Oranges for our colleagues at Salford, donations and festive fundraising at BAM Construction, Medlock and Bellway Homes. School and community support
We’re so grateful to our communities and schools that went the extra mile with festive fundraising for Christmas and other services. Local schoolchildren came in and sang carols lifting spirits around the festive period. Woodhey High School donated selection boxes. Andy Lee and Co released their own Christmas single to raise funds to purchase and deliver gifts with Father Christmas and donated extra funds to support the service going forward. Oldham College held their annual Christmas Fair in support of our Sunshine Appeal. upported other services during this time too, including our Sunshine Appeal and Salford Children’s Diabetes service.
So from all of our team at NorthCare Charity, and on behalf of our colleagues across the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, thank you so much!
